City Model 1 includes both pedal assist (choose how much help you want using the digital controls) to cruise at up to 28 MPH, as well as a thumb throttle, which can propel you at up to 20 MPH without pedaling. There’s a large LCD display showing your speed, distance, time, battery life, and other information; plus a kickstand for easy parking. Includes Kenda puncture-resistant tires, powerful hydraulic disc brakes for safer and stopping, and Shimano’s 7 speed drivetrain.

EBike Features

48 Volt electric system with pedal assist and throttle

City Model 1 is equipped with a 48 volt eBike system including battery, motor, controller, and display. Choose from 5 levels of pedal assist at up to 28 MPH while pedaling, or use the throttle to travel up to 20 MPH without pedaling.

Powerful 500 Watt hub motor

500 Watt hub motor with plenty of torque to make climbing hills a snap.

High-capacity battery for more range

We've included a big, 652.8Wh battery with premium LG cells so you can go further between charges.

When you're done, the battery can be charged both on and off the bike, using the included 3A fast charger in just 3-4 hours - 50% faster than many competing eBikes.

Easy to read LCD display

High-resolution digital dashboard shows your speed, trip distance, time, battery charge level, pedal assist level, and more at a glance. It's even got a backlight for night riding.

Class III eBike, customizable for your needs

City Model 1 ships in Class III eBike configuration (up to 28 MPH on pedal assist, up to 20 MPH on throttle) and can easily be adjusted using the built-in settings on the display.

The speed limiter can be set from 11-28 MPH to help you meet local trail access rules and requirements, or to accommodate riders who simply prefer lower speeds.

Real-world range testing

Denago is committed to honest, real-world range estimates. You won't find "your mileage may vary" estimates here - we tested our eBikes under real riders on real terrain.

Most riders will experience more than 20 miles of range using throttle exclusively and 40 miles or more on pedal assist.

Our 250 pound test rider, using throttle only, traveled 23 miles on a single charge, with outdoor temperature of 38°F, including more than 20 stops and starts along the route.

Learn more about range testing.

5 levels of pedal assist

City Model 1 features 5 selectable levels of pedal assist (PAS), so you can choose the right speed for your needs.

PAS 0: no motor assist
PAS 1: 15 MPH
PAS 2: 17.5 MPH
PAS 3: 20.5 MPH
PAS 4: 23 MPH
PAS 5: 27 MPH
Throttle: 20 MPH

Speeds will vary slightly depending on terrain, headwinds, rider weight, and battery charge level.

Shimano 7 speed drivetrain

City Model 1.0 is easy to ride with a 7 speed drivetrain from Shimano. The thumb shifter shows you what gear you're using at a glance, and each shift clicks right into place - no complicated drivetrain to figure out.

Safety features

Includes Kenda puncture-resistant tires and powerful hydraulic disc brakes for safer and easy stopping, even in wet weather. A convenient kickstand makes parking a snap.

EBike-rated tires with puncture resistance

Flat tires are no fun, so we used Kenda's Kwick Seven-5 Sport tires with K-Shield to minimize punctures. They're eBike-rated to handle higher speeds, and use a reflective sidewall for increased safety when riding at night.

Comfortable riding

Regardless of your body type, City Model 1 is packed with features that keep you comfortable so riding is fun. We’ve included a wide, padded saddle, plus a stem with angle adjustment so you can raise and lower the handlebar.

There's also a quick-release clamp to allow saddle height adjustment on the fly, so friends and family can ride, too.

Carry more by adding a rear rack

City Model 1 offers built-in mounting points for an optional rear rack. Carry lunch, groceries, a change of clothes, or even a spare battery for extended exploring.

Assembly tools included

City Model 1 includes a wrench for the pedals and axle nuts, plus a handy multi-tool with hex keys and screwdrivers.

Everything you need to assemble your new Denago at home, and perfect for on-the-road adjustments.

Powerful hydraulic disc brakes

We've included Zoom hydraulic disc brakes with oversize rotors to reduce stopping distance, even if it's raining.

Love my E-Bike

I was a bike commuter for 15 years, then took a break for a few years when I had to drive my son to practices after work every day. I was looking to get back into commuting and an e-bike seemed like a good idea. After riding the Denago to work every day for several weeks I can't imagine driving to work again, and I can't see any reason why I'd drive anywhere in town. The bike is very comfortable and easily adjusted to an individual rider. The computer screen is very large and shows all the data that I used to get on my tiny little add-on computer, but is displayed much better. The shifting is smooth and I like the way the electric assist is tied to both the level of assist you choose as well as the also the gear you are riding in. It's perfect for work commuting as I can wear my work clothes without being worried about getting them all sweaty, and it makes longer rides to dinner or anything less of a chore. The only problem I see is that once my wife starts riding it I'll never get it back from her. Denago City Model 1.0 Top-tube Ebike Review
